Accreditations. Schools that offer intense English language courses and meet the highest educational and student service standards receive the so called NEAS accreditation (The National ELICOS Accreditation Scheme). To international students this guarantees that being students and participants of the NEAS accredited ELICOS program (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) they will be following a government regulated and controlled curriculum. Also, they will be studying under qualified faculty in classes with a limited number of students. This will happen regardless whether they are studying in Queensland or in Sydney. The Australian government introduced a special student visa category - ELICOS student visa. Australian student visa holders are required to choose courses that include at least 20 hours of classes per week.

English Colleges. English language courses are available for both beginner and advanced students.

In most countries that offer language courses as a second language the curriculum is not regulated by the government. In Australia the procedures and educational programme is strictly controlled by the government.

Each course has a CRICOS number (the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) and is legally registered on the list of Australian courses that meet the requirements set out for language courses for overseas students.

There are numerous institutions that promote high quality of teaching English to international students. Among them, Quality English is worth mentioning. Quality English was created to support schools that offer English language courses and have a reputation for excellence. The schools that use this symbol can be also found in Great Britain, Ireland, Malta, New Zealand, Canada and Southern Africa.

The possible duration of a course varies. A course can be as short as one week or as long as 52 weeks. For example, European students prefer courses that last somewhere between 6 and 36 weeks. The duration of a course depends on the English language level of the student and their further educational plans. It’s not always easy to choose a course that’s best for you, however it’s a very important decision to make. It usually depends on the financial capabilities of the student and the expected results - whether after completing the course the student wishes to proceed to higher education or get the dream job. You should keep in mind that our qualified Bridge Agency consultants are here to assist you in making the important decision.
