Holmes Colleges   Ranking

Established in 1963, Holmes commenced building a proud tradition of business excellence with the founding of a commercial college in Melbourne Australia. By 1986, Holmes had established one of Victoria´s first accredited private English Language centres and the Holmes Education Group, a respected entity in professional Australian education.

For over forty years, Holmes has had an enviable reputation as a quality education provider, being 100% Australian owned and maintaining since 1988 an unchanged senior management team. From 1988 Holmes has moved steadily towards active involvement with the higher education sector, particularly in the provision of undergraduate level degrees.

The establishment of the Holmes Institute of Higher Education is in fulfilment of the company´s higher education mission. To meet this challenge Holmes initiated relationships in 2000 with a number of public Australian universities. This initiative complemented and built on the existing articulation pathways of the Holmes diploma courses with degree courses at other providers of higher education in Australia.

Accreditation list Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET)

What is ACPET ?

The national industry association for independent providers of post-compulsory education and training, for Australian and international students, including:

  • Higher Education
  • Vocational Education and Training
  • English Language Courses
  • Senior Secondary Studies
  • Foundation Studies

The ACPET Mission is to:

Enhance quality, choice, innovation and diversity in Australian education and training for individual, national and global development. Work pro-actively and co-operatively with government, education and training providers, industry and community organisations, in order to ensure that vocational and higher education and training services provide choice and diversity, and well-targeted, appropriately delivered courses which are widely accessible and of high quality.

National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS)

Our role:

The broad aim of NEAS is to establish and uphold high standards of service provision in English Language Teaching.

The purpose of the scheme is:

  • to set standards of quality in the provision of ELT programs and related services
  • to provide a professional judgment as to whether ELT centres meet and continue to meet those standards

In achieving our purpose, NEAS is:

  • Rigorous in its audit regime so as to sustain high levels of delivery of English language teaching;
  • Supportive of the industry through maintaining a role of offering external continual improvement advice to ELT centres;
  • Co-operative in its dealings with industry and government representatives when working to the benefit of the industry and its key beneficiaries, the students studying English;
  • Open in its willingness to learn and participate in the future of the industry and open to reviews and evaluations of its own operations.

NEAS also aims to develop quality in service provision of ELT centres by taking a professional development role in the ELT sector. Information sessions are at times offered by NEAS which are aimed at raising awareness of quality issues in ELT, and NEAS convenes an annual national conference for the benefit of ELT managers. This conference focuses on management issues typically facing ELT managers, with the content based on the needs of the participants.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is a quality assured national framework of qualifications in the school, vocational education and training (VET), and higher education sectors in Australia.
The AQF is a structure of recognised and endorsed qualifications that promotes lifelong learning and provides pathways through Australia’s education and training system.
The AQF is a key national policy instrument to protect the quality of Australian education and training wherever it is delivered. The Framework was developed and is endorsed by all Australian governments through the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) and therefore an AQF qualification is recognised around Australia and by other countries.
