There are
many advantages for students who choose to study at
PIBT over other Institutes and Universities in Australia.
The ability to
fast-track, the smaller class sizes at PIBT compared to Universities, and still being able to study on an Australian University campus, makes the decision of where to study in Australia an easy choice!
PIBT is also affiliated with other Institutes of Business and Technology all around Australia. This means you can even arrange your study program to transfer between the Institutes and at the same time get to see more of Australia!
3 Semester Fast-track System
PIBT's innovative Three-Semester system allows students to Fast track their studies and complete their course in only 8 months. This allows students to enter university earlier than those studying in a conventional two-semester system.
With intakes in February, June and October there is also additional flexibility which allows student to extend their course ofer 3 full semesters.
Students who enter at the Diploma Stage I (Certificate IV) level can complete this course along with their Diploma Stage II in just four semesters (or 16 months).
Study on an Australian University Campus
PIBT is located on the Churchlands Campus of Edith Cowan University; only 8km from Perth city. Students have access to the full range of services and facilities available on the campus, including library, cafes, computing laboratories and sporting and recreational facilities.
University Designed Program
The PIBT Diploma programmes are accredited as University level Diplomas. The courses follow the university curricula and assessment requirements at ECU, so students are working at the same high standards.
Many PIBT lecturers are also university lecturers so they have considerable teaching experience at this level.
Smaller Class Sizes
Lecture groups have a maximum of 50 students, although most average between 30-40 students. Lectures are complemented by small group tutorials/workshops ensuring students receive the best of attention.
Combined English and Academic Program
A special program of English and academic studies has been developed for those international students who do not quite satisfy the English language requirement. This course would be undertaken for at least one semester.
Part-time Study
PIBT offers Australian students the opportunity to complete their studies on a part-time basis. Classes are scheduled on a 'block' basis providing students with the opportunity to attend for half-day sessions rather than several smaller periods throughout the week.
This provides the opportunity for students with employment and other commitments to manage their studies with greater ease.
Due to Visa requirements the part-time option is not available to international students.
Course Accreditation
All courses are accredited by the appropriate vocational education and Higher Education government agencies, to ensure that courses meet quality assurance standards.
As part of the accreditation process, courses are regularly reviewed and revised. Students at PIBT are guaranteed current and relevant courses.
Articulation and University Recognition
International students who successfuly finish their Diploma program are guaranteed entry to the 2nd Year of the relevant Bachelor degree.
Entry for Australian and Permanent Resident students is determined by the availability of Government Supported places on a competitive basis.
For students who wish to study elsewhere, either in Western Australia or the Eastern States, many other options exist. Speak to PIBT staff for specific information.
Edith Cowan University, with five campuses, is the second largest University in Western Australia.
PIBT is located on the University's Churchlands campus with access to modern, fully equipped teaching and library facilities and comfortable study areas.
The leafy gardens and modern buildings of the Churchlands campus, one of the busiest ECU campuses, add to its appeal as a learning environment. The campus is only eight (8) kilometres from the city centre and is easily accessible by public transport.

Students have a range of accommodation options available to them when then study at PIBT. These include:
Homestay is a popular accommodation option available to overseas students in Perth. Homestay may be families, couples, single people or single mothers with children. All are selected to provide good quality facilities and meals if required. The Homestay families have requested a student to stay with them, so students can be sure they will be very welcome.
Host families speak English and this will help to improve language skills. Host families help with day-to-day problems such as transport, banking and shopping. Homestay gives you a friendly environment where you can live, relax and study in comfort and security.
Newly arrived students - you should be aware that you may need to devote
AT LEAST ONE WEEK to finding suitable accommodation.
Off-campus options include house or unit/ flat rentals, or hostels. Costs vary considerably depending on size, quality and location. Renting normally requires you to sign a contract of 6 or 12 months and you will usually be required to pay one month´s rent in advance as well as pay a refundable deposit (bond) in the event of any damage during the rental period. Any lease or other housing arrangements entered into are at the sole discretion of the student and the accommodation provider involved.
Information about rental properties is available from reception (a list of local properties), from local Real Estate agents and newspapers.]
Short-term accommodation may be arranged on behalf of students and/or parents on request through our accommodation providers. PIBT utilises two companies to arrange accommodation for students. All questions regarding short-term accommodation should be sent directly to the accommodation provider that you wish to use.

If you intend staying with friends or relatives (other than your family), then you must obtain permission from your parents and the college.
